Trends in number/volume of cases
2015/16 saw a 10 percent increase in the number of adult safeguarding incidents in South Gloucestershire, totalling 1,433 compared with 1,586 in 2014/15.
The most prevalent incidents reported were, as last year, neglect (45 percent) and physical abuse (25 percent). Financial abuse (16 percent) increased, whilst psychological abuse (10 percent) remained static compared to 2014/15. Sexual abuse (3 percent) remains one of the smallest categories, and declined by 1 percent in 2015/16 compared with 2014/15.
