Referrals to social care
The contacts resulted in 4,378 referrals for social care and related issues (4,724 in 2015/16), many of which were dealt with by providing simple services, advice and information.
299 people completed a ‘self-assessment’ (583 in 2015/16), 189 went on to a full assessment (350 in 2015/16).
4,565 (3,839 in 2015/16) people in total (including existing clients) had a full assessment, reviews or carers assessments.
The total number of assessments for these clients in 2016/17 was 7,146 (5,838 in 2015/16)
This data shows that there were fewer new contacts and referrals but more assessments. As a consequence, we have been able to reduce the number of people who were awaiting a review of their account, a trend which has continued into 2017/18.
